Kinetic Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 27, 2026
Kinetic is a workout tracker built to keep your training data yours. This policy explains what the app handles and where it goes. Training data is stored locally for offline use and synchronized through your Kinetic account when a connection is available.
Who we are
Kinetic is developed by Karel Busta ("we", "us"). For anything privacy-related, contact us at karelbusta@gmail.com.
What data Kinetic handles
Kinetic stores the data you create in the app:
- Workouts, routines, exercises, sets, and measurements you log
- Custom exercises and notes you add
- App settings (such as units and default rest time)
Kinetic does not collect:
- Advertising identifiers
- Your location, contacts, photos, or health records
Account and sign-in data
A Kinetic account is required. Sign-in is provided by WorkOS AuthKit using Apple or Google. WorkOS processes your email address, display name, provider identity, session tokens, and technical information needed to secure the sign-in flow. Kinetic stores the minimum identity needed to show your account and keep you signed in in the device Keychain. Kinetic's backend also stores an internal account identifier, your WorkOS user reference, email address, display name, and account lifecycle state. WorkOS does not receive your workouts, routines, exercises, or measurements from Kinetic. See WorkOS's privacy policy.
Diagnostics and analytics
Kinetic uses Sentry for diagnostics and PostHog for product analytics to improve reliability and usability. We do not send your email address, name, WorkOS or Convex account identifier, workouts, routines, sets, measurements, notes, or synchronization payloads to these services.
Where your data lives
Your complete working data is stored on your device in a separate local database for each Kinetic account. This keeps the app usable offline. When you are online, Kinetic sends account-owned workouts, routines, custom exercises, notes, measurements, and selected settings to Convex, which Kinetic uses as its cross-device synchronization backend. Convex also stores synchronization versions and deletion records needed to resolve offline changes safely. See Convex's privacy policy.
Connected agents and ChatGPT
You can choose to connect Kinetic to an MCP-compatible agent, including the Kinetic plugin in ChatGPT or Codex. The connected service can read the Kinetic account data needed for your request and, when you ask it to take an action, create or change training records through Kinetic's authenticated API. Kinetic receives only the tool arguments selected for the request, not your complete conversation history.
Tool inputs and results pass through the agent provider you choose. If you use the Kinetic plugin with ChatGPT or Codex, OpenAI processes that information under OpenAI's Privacy Policy and your OpenAI account settings. Kinetic does not use connected-agent requests for advertising or behavioral profiling. Disconnecting Kinetic in the agent provider revokes that provider's access; deleting your Kinetic account follows the deletion process described below.
Kinetic's bundled exercise catalog is available locally without an account connection. Catalog updates can be downloaded from Convex after authentication. Those requests carry your account credential but no training data.
Purchases
Payments for subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Kinetic uses RevenueCat to associate purchase status with your Kinetic account and provide membership access across your devices. RevenueCat receives a random Kinetic billing identifier, product and transaction information, entitlement status, and purchase timing. It does not receive your workouts or payment-card details from Kinetic. Kinetic's Convex backend stores the billing identifier and normalized membership status needed to authorize account features. See Apple's App Store privacy details for how Apple handles payment data and RevenueCat's privacy policy for how RevenueCat processes purchase information.
Notifications
Kinetic may ask permission to send local notifications (for example, a reminder before a account trial ends, or rest-timer alerts). These are scheduled and delivered on your device only — no notification data leaves it.
Data export and deletion
You can export your training data from within the app at any time. Signing out clears the active session but intentionally retains that account's local database and unsynchronized changes on the device.
Delete Account requires an internet connection and recent verification. It starts a retryable process that removes the account's synchronized training data and settings from Convex, deletes the WorkOS user, deletes the associated RevenueCat customer, and wipes the initiating device's account database and credentials. Other connected installations wipe their copy when they observe the deletion. A device that stays offline cannot be erased remotely; its local copy remains until that installation next reconnects and contacts Kinetic's service. Deleting the app removes that installation's local data but does not by itself delete the Kinetic account or cloud copy. Deleting your Kinetic account does not cancel an App Store subscription; manage or cancel that separately through Apple.
Retention and synchronization recovery
Account data remains in Convex while your account is active. Kinetic keeps RevenueCat purchase and entitlement information while your Kinetic account is active and removes the RevenueCat customer during completed account deletion, subject to RevenueCat's legal retention obligations described in its privacy policy. Kinetic retains synchronization versions and deletion tombstones so a device returning after a long offline period cannot restore deleted records.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you have rights to access, correct, export, and erase your personal data. You can export or delete account data through the app as described above, or contact us with questions or requests.
Children
Kinetic is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date, and material changes will be called out in the app's release notes.
